How do I pack for Canada, as an international student from india?

Apart from that, keeping in mind that laundry is usually done only once in 10 to 15 days, I would recommend you take the following clothes -
  • 8 to 10 regular (cotton and similar material) T shirts and also shirts that you can wear to the university/shops/any other place outside the house. Ladies, pretty much the same number for you as well. Essentially it should be tops you can wear regularly.
  • 4 to 7 tee shirts to wear inside the house
  • A minimum of 3 good pairs of jeans, a couple of Chinos and/or regular pants. Women can get leggings (or Jeggings too if you’re into them) since almost every female friend of mine swears by them.
  • 2 or 3 pairs of Shorts that you can wear in the summer and also shorts/PJs/Tracks to wear inside the house
  • Around 10 or more pairs of inner wear. Like I said, laundry is done twice a month. So use you judgement and get stuff
  • 5 to 10 pairs of durable socks. You will be wearing your shoes a lot, especially in winter so get durable ones that will last you long.
  • Handkerchiefs etc are up to you. Get how many every you feel you might need.
The link at the beginning would contain pretty much the basics of what is needed.

Also, please don’t load up on MAGGI. Learn to cook before you come. I am appalled at the sheer number of people who bring tons of maggi. You get Maggi in Canada! If you feel compelled to get things, get some basic powders for a few days. Do not get enough to start a catering business. You can get them all here. If you are choosy about some specific home-made masala, then sure get that.
What I am trying to say is - there is no point filling your suitcase with things that will not last more than a couple of months. So get some essentials. That is enough.
